Mini symposium ‘Life skills’01 December 2014 18:30 - 21:30
Hotel Congrescentrum Papendal, Papendallaan 3, 6816 GV, Arnhem
Optimal performance is both in the performing arts and sports central. A well-balanced network of facilities around the athlete, dancer or musician is essential in talent development. The sports have state of the art facilities. NCPA wants to make this knowledge accessible for the performing arts.
What can the performing arts learn from the sports?
On the 1st of December NCPA is organizing a mini-symposium on Papendal where the Centre for Top Sport and Education (CTO) develops unique programs. Top talents train, study and live in one place and have a wide range of facilities to make the best out of themselves.
Coordinator Miriam Uppelschoten and Brigitte Muller portray how the vision of the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports on talent development in sports takes shape at Papendal and other places in the Netherlands. CTO supports the structure and organization of the environment around a talent. In 2008 CTO was launched as an official mark by NOC NSF.
Michelle Verhoef, life skills coach at the CTO, focuses on the life skills program that is built around independence and self-regulation of young talents. The program takes care of the complex challenges and provides coaching in all aspects of personal development.
At the mini-symposium parallels and differences between sports and the performing arts appear. For professionals in the performing arts this evening offers an insight into tools on how to work with talent development.
